St Helens service awarded Investing in Volunteers accreditation
The St Helens Wellbeing Service, run by City Health Care Partnerhship CIC, has been recognised for its investment in the small army of volunteers who support its work to make local residents healthier.
33 people give up their time to help, from physical activity mentors to volunteers supporting infant feeding and mental health. CHCP recently took on the service and are really keen to encourage more volunteers to work with the team, as well as to continue to nurture the dedicated and committed people who already do so.
Sarah Holden, Head of Public Health Services, said, “Volunteering has so many benefits…it’s good for the service and the community and it has many benefits for the volunteer too. It is with great pride that the St Helens Wellbeing service has achieved Investing in Volunteers accreditation. As a service we recognise and value the time people give and the huge difference they make to helping others to improve their health, wellbeing and confidence. The award goes some way to demonstrating how we look after our volunteers.”
The Investing in Volunteers team met over half of the St Helens volunteers, as well as speaking to managers and commissioners. Their report highlights good practice as well as areas where CHCP goes above and beyond in its good practice with volunteers.
One volunteer said, “The way this organisation looks after us is second to none. It’s superb, they really care. We keep doing it because we know we’re loved and cared for.”
